Any place that requires a lot of desk work to be done requires a desk lamp.
Desk lamps are one of the most widely used lamps. Desk lamps vary according to the usage. There is one kind available for business executives and another kind for students. The lamps used by students are smaller and more compact in nature than the lamps used by executives which are generally larger and usually made of material such as brass and copper. Thus you can see that there are a wide range of desk lamps available to the consumer. The various kinds of lamps that are available in the market today are widely differentiated in terms of finish, style and the brand that produces them.
Desk lamps have been modified to suit your needs. They are also being created with new taste in mind, so that functionality is combined with aesthetic appeal. In keeping with modern advanced gadgetry and the need for multi-tasking these lamps have been made multi-purpose.
Most lamps these days have on/off switches, compact fluorescent compatible light bulb ballast and an adjustable neck. These lamps can make your tiresome desk-work experience a less stressful one.
Although you may think that ordering and buying a desk lamp is just another tiresome experience it can actually be made more fun and interesting when you custom order one. The most important thing that you have to keep in mind when buying a desk lamp is that the light affects your eyes, especially if you sit at your desk doing a huge amount of paperwork. Thus investing in a good lamp can be as personal as you make it to be.
Most lamps that are available in the market today use halogen bulbs which are not the best kind if you are studying small print. The halogen bulbs are very bright and so the contrast and glare can be a problem for some people. This may lead to a problem in the retina of the eyes. For example a lot of the study lamps and desk lamps that are available on the market come with halogen bulbs in them. However, halogen bulbs which are the brightest bulbs you can buy, are not the ideal type of light for everybody. Then again some people find that halogen has a subtle almost indiscernible light that causes excessive strain.
Another kind of problem that occurs with a study lamp that has halogen bulb is that it lights up only one page of the book but does not spread to the entire desk. Those in favor of using the halogen lamp say that this helps one focus on studying the immediate object and prevents one from shifting the concentration on other objects. This sort of lamp thus helps in concentration and keeps out distractions.
